RIGF speakers to meet with Kazan students
Lectures and roundtables will be held on April 6
On April 7, Innopolis, Tatarstan will host the RIGF 2017 8th Russian forum on internet governance. Every year, prior to the forum’s launch its speakers meet with school and university students, take part in roundtables and read lectures to local youth. The same will happen this year, as such meetings are slated to be held at two universities in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, on April 6.
Kazan Federal University will host the roundtable, Human Rights on the Internet: Anonymity, Privacy and Censorship. It will be attended by Dmitry Afanasyev, head and coordinator of the expert council under the State Duma Committee for Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications; Marina Rozhkova, Professor at the Intellectual Rights Department at the Kutafin Moscow State University of Law; Director of the Eurasian Institute of International Law Dmitry Matveyev; ICANN Vice-President Mikhail Yakushev, and others. The roundtable will be held in conjunction with IP CLUB. Participants will discuss such issues as user anonymity on the internet and the potential prohibition of anonymity in the interests of preventing terrorism. Participants will also discuss the banning of resources with illegal content and the freedom to communicate on social networks and forums.
PIR Center expert Oleg Demidov will give a lecture at the university’s Higher School of Information Technology on attributing attacks and the search for threats on the internet, which is one of the most pressing issues of information security. Demidov will speak about old and new approaches to this problem and about international cooperation in cybersecurity.
