8th Russian Internet Governance Forum was held in the city of Innopolis, Tatarstan in April 2017

The 8th Russian Internet Governance Forum was held in the city of Innopolis, Tatarstan, on April 7, 2017. RIGF 2017 main theme was about how to get more actors involved in global internet governance, and add a wider variety of discussion topics to the current agenda. Guests and speakers discussed new trends in internet governance and challenges facing those involved in this process.

The forum featured sessions on information security, regional aspects of internet governance, international cooperation and technological innovations. Experts from Russia, China, the US and European countries talked about who should be playing a more active role in global internet governance, and what can be done to engage new stakeholders.

Special introductory lectures was held for those new to the issue of global internet governance. Delivered by leading world experts, these lectures covered the past, present and future of internet governance.
